How will you be graded?

EVERYONE should be able to acheive an "A" in this class! You may take the quizzes as many times as you like and your top score on the quiz is the one that counts. It is also permissable to use notes, study materials, and books on the quizzes. After you complete a quizz on-line it will be immediately scored and you will be given a summary of your responses and the correct responses. If you miss one or two you can memorize the answers and go back and retake the quiz. Be careful, it will not be in the same order the second time. Quizzes will count for 40% of your grade.

The lab activities are not scored on right or wrong answers provided that you back up your answers with evidence from your investigation. There are only a few questions after an investigation so take your time and answer the question as completly as possible. After you complete an investigation quiz you will be shown some examples of correct answers. Based on your results these may or may not be the same thing that you responded they are meant as an examples only. Investigations will not be graded immediately because of the nature of the questions. However, they will be scored within a couple of days and you will receive an e-mail notifying you of your score. The investigations count for 20% of your grade. You must complete 10 investigations out of the 34 listed. If you have your own investigation you would like to perform, contact your teacher and they will develop a safe and meaningful procedure for your investigation. Also you may perform investigations for extra credit contact your teacher for information.

The tests will count as 40% of your grade. That means it is possible to pass the class without taking one test. But to do this you must score 100% on every quiz and every investigation. The self-study checklist and the study guide have great information to prepare you for a test, use them. Your first score on any test is the one that counts. Although you will be allowed to take the test as many times as you like the scores you receive will not count. You are not allowed to use notes, study materials, and books on the tests. The tests are meant to reflect how much you have learned while completing the lessons and investigations. If you follow the self-study checklist I have no doubt that you will do great on the tests!

The following grading scale will be used for determining your final grade. After completeing the course with a "D-" or better you will receive one Carnegie credit from the Yukon Koyukuk School District.
